Vodafone Thakadhimi on Asianet | Dance Reality show


Asianet TV's Thakadhimi sponsored by Vodafone was one of the first and popular dance reality show in Malayalam television. The first Season of this dance-based talent hunt and reality show on Asianet was held in 2007-2008 for participants in the age group 15- 30 years.

 Out of 10000 applications received from many Indian cities and foreign countries,only 70 candidates were selected. In the audition round, each participant has been given three performances and they are selected or put on the waiting list, on the spot according to their performance. After the first round of auditions only 36 candidates were selected for the next rounds by the jury comprised of Vineeth (famous actor and dancer), Gopika Varma (dancer and Mohiniyattam expert) and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy (dancer and actress). Playback singer Anoop Shanker and Aishwrya Ajit hosted the show.


 Vodafone Thakadhimi on Asianet was launched on 13 October 2007 at 830 PM. Inauguration of the show was done by the judges. The dance show was aired every Saturdays and Sunday at 830 PM. To test the dancing prowess of the contestants in areas such as choreography, expressions, technical and artistic aspects, various rounds such as classical, semi-classical, cinematic, rap, ‘Dance with a star’ were made.

The grand finale of the show was held on 22 June, 2008. Along with the permanent judges, Brinda master was one of the judges in its final.  Famous actress Jayapura was the chief guest of the show. The winners of the show were announced by Jayaprada. Gayathri Govind from Trivandrum won the prestigious Asianet Vodafone Thakadhimi in its Mega final . The dancer won a fabulous prize worth rupees 45 lakhs.  Akhila Sasidharan, Jobin George and Sarath Nair won the second, third and fourth places, respectively. Gaythri faced maximum challenge from Akhila, who was the favourite of many people. The mark difference between them was just one mark. The marks were 59.25/70, 58.25/70, 54/70 and 44.25/70 for Gayathri, Akhila Sasidharan, Jobin George and Sarath Nair, respectively. The details are given below.

Oru Chempaneer Poovu Pole to felicitate Unni Menon's 33 Musical Years: Telecast on Asianet

“Oru Chempaneer Poovu Pole”, is a function organised by Swaralaya to honour and celebrate the 33 years of singer Unni Menon’s career, at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Palakkadu, Kerala, on September 27 and 28, 2014. Two day cultural event was attended by many celebrities from the music and movie industry. During the function an audio CD comprising songs from Aval Vannathinusesham , the latest film for which Unni Menon sang, was also released

The term 'Oru Chempaneer Poovu Pole' came from the lyrics of the song  'Oru chempaneer pooviruthu ' from the malayalam movie  Sthithi ( 2003 ), composed by Unni Menon. He also acted in that movie.

Singer Unni Menon has sung 3,000 songs in all south Indian languages (Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada) in three decades. He owes his success and accomplishments in film music to the Tamil tinsel world. He won two state awards for best playback singer(2002 and 1996) in the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.

He got a break in in his musical career when he sang the song "Pudhu Vellai Mazhai" from Mani Ratnam's a Tamil film Roja (1992), composed by famous music director A. R. Rahman

Bigg Boss Kannada Season 2 | Reality Show on Asianet Suvarna TV

Bigg Boss Kannada 2 (BBK2) is the second season of the Kannada reality television series Bigg Boss Kannada.  This show in Kannada Language was launched on 29 June 2014. There were 16 contestants, out of which only four remained in the finals. The contestants lived in the Bigg Boss house for 99 days completely isolated from the rest of the world.

The first season of the Kannada language version was aired in Indian Television channel ETV Kannada.  Asianet Suvarna channel acquired the broadcast rights for the second season of Bigg Boss Kannada.

Cancer Wardile Chiri -Memoirs by Actor Innocent on his recovery from Cancer

Cancer Wardile Chiri is a book written by Film Star and MP Innocent.The book was released by Mathrubhumi Books in December 2013. Now its fifth edition is avaialble.

Personal Life

Rekha is the daughter of dubbing artist Ratheesh, originally from Thiruvananthapuram and Artist Radha Devi from Thodupuzha. Both of her parent passed away. In an interview given to a popular malayalam daily she revealed that she married four times. She was married to Yousaf in an young age (18 yrs). Following divorce she married Actor Nirmal Prakash (after this marriage Rekha was known Rekha Nirmal, Nirmal, died in 2010) and later married Kamal Roy. After the break up she married Abhilash. She has a son with Abhilash.   She is now living with her son,named Ayaan in Thiruvananthapuram.

Resmi Menon is the Winner of Kitchen Magic Season 3 Grand Finale on Kairali TV

The grand Finale of the Malayalam Cookery Reality Show on Kairali TV came to an end with  Grand Finale On  02 October 2014 (02/09/2014) Thursday at 06:00 PM (IST) .  The grand finale was glittering function filled with dance, music and mimicry performances in addition to the cooking performance by the finalists . In the grand finale of the show, Veena was the anchor. Dr . Lekshmi Nair and Actor Krishna announced the names of the winners.
